Syed Nasir Hussain Shah Local Government Minister of Sindh inaugurated the three-day Pak Water and Energy Expo at Expo Center Karachi.
This sixth Pak Water and Energy exhibition, organized by the Prime Event Management, will continue for three days.
Mr. Nasir Hussain Shah visited the stalls along with the Chief Operating Officer of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Asadullah Khan.
The exhibition’s organizer, Prime Event Management Director Mr. Kamran Abbasi briefed the minister regarding the exhibition’s theme, emerging trends, and technologies in water management.
Talking to the media on this occasion, Nasir Hussain Shah said that he will try to get removed the ban on imports of water-related machinery and equipments.
“I will also try to remove the taxes on such machinery and equipment as well,” he assured the exhibitors.
He said that more than two hundred companies are participating in the exhibition, including international companies from Turkey, China, Germany, Spain, Taiwan, and Malaysia. He praised efforts of event organizer Kamran Abbasi and his team.
The minister said that following the vision of Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chief minister Sindh, he and his team are working hard for water supply in Karachi. He added that the government is also installing several desalination plants.
Answering the journalists’ questions, Nasir Hussain Shah said that flour stalls of Rs.65 per kg had been set up everywhere in Sindh.
Talking about the recent audio leaks, he condemned the ongoing activities and said that foreign heads visit the PM’s house, and such things will only degrade the country’s image.
In response to a question, he said there were suggestion to postpone the local body elections based on the security report of the police. Still, the Election Commission should make this decision.
Moreover, the Commission can also call Rangers and Army in this regard.
Earlier, Chief Executive Officer of Water Board Muhammad Salahuddin also visited the exhibition.
He said that they are bringing more technologies with the support of the World Bank that will provide clean water to the city.
He said there is a need to install clean water plants in the slums.
Two treatment plants are running, and more treatment plants will be installed soon, he added.
