KARACHI: The Media Workers Organisation (MWO) in Karachi has taken a commendable initiative to support unemployed and low-income media workers. Recently, they distributed free ration worth over 1.2 million rupees, made possible by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI). This gesture has been hailed as a “true blessing” by the MWO spokesperson, acknowledging the severe economic crisis faced by employees of newspapers and TV channels.
The ration distribution event, held at the Sindh Scouts Building Auditorium, was attended by prominent figures, including Naib Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Saifuddin Advocate, who praised the MWO leadership for their efforts. Other notable attendees included senior journalist Mazhar Abbas, Chairman of APNEC Mirza Imran Baig, and Information Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Zahid Askari.
They highlighted the importance of community support and solidarity, especially during challenging economic times.
