BEIJING: Pakistani aquatic product exporters are increasingly benefiting from zero tariffs and a deeper understanding of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA), leading to a surge in exports to China.
The Commercial Counsellor of the Pakistani Embassy in China, Ghulam Qadir stated, “More and more Pakistani aquatic product exporters enjoy zero tariffs and become aware of the details of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA). We have registered new species under the second phase of CPFTA, which can help increase our exports to China.”
Many Pakistani companies are actively seeking to expand their collaboration with Chinese partners to tap into the growing demand for aquatic products. On September 13, a high-level Pakistani agricultural delegation, led by Shahid Firoz, representative of Pakistan Arfeen Group and vice chairman of Belt and Road Development Company, visited the China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance (CAPPMA) in Beijing, China. During the visit, they engaged in extensive discussions on deepening China-Pakistan cooperation in the aquaculture industry.
Firoz explained the primary objective of their visit, saying, “Our company is a comprehensive enterprise in Pakistan with diverse business interests, including trade, food processing, and agriculture. Additionally, we possess abundant water resources such as lakes and reservoirs. The primary purpose of our visit is to establish connections with exceptional aquatic product companies.” He expressed hope that Chinese enterprises could provide valuable assistance in the development of aquaculture and further promote trade cooperation.
