After the challenge of referendum in the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) and preparations for the upcoming referendum, the Muttahida Workers Front (MWF) continued its vigorous referendum campaign by holding a major meeting in Outstation Gharo .

The meeting was led by CBA Chairman and Incharge Irshad Khan, Information Secretary and Supervisor Danish, Committee Member Irfan Shah, and team members Khurram, Mazhar, Imran Siddiqui, Izzat Abbas, Muhammad Aamir, and Parvez. Members of the All Pakistan Officers Welfare Association Working Committee and other workers were also in attendance.

Addressing the gathering, CBA Chairman Irshad Khan assured employees that, “InshaAllah, the next era of the Water Corporation will also belong to us.”
He emphasized that their leadership stood firm before the employees based on performance and results. Since their election, the CBA has prioritized resolving workers’ issues, whether they belonged to the main office or outstation branches.

Irshad Khan expressed pride in the workers’ unity, particularly highlighting how outstation employees joined forces with MWF to thwart attempts at privatizing the corporation and outsourcing medical and tax services.
“You must show the same passion and spirit in the upcoming referendum and ensure the success of the Muttahida Workers Front,” he urged.

Warning of potential misinformation campaigns by rival unions, he advised workers to hold others accountable, questioning, “Where were you when the corporation was about to be sold? Where were you when efforts were made to outsource our medical and tax services? Where were you when our patients suffered without treatment, and we were struggling for our dues?”

Irshad Khan reaffirmed that MWF’s commitment to workers has always been sincere, emphasizing that their policies promote unity and workers’ rights without discrimination. “Alhamdulillah, the work Muttahida Workers Front has done for employees is no secret,” he said confidently.

In a major announcement, the Chairman revealed that MWF had successfully negotiated a 200% increase in allowances for outstation employees in the Charter of Demands, leading to a significant rise in salaries once implemented.

He appealed to the workers, stating, “If you want to safeguard the corporation from privatization, continue enjoying medical benefits, and ensure timely dues, then you must support Muttahida Workers Front in the referendum.”

Vice President Akbar Bhutto and District Incharge Imran Siddiqui warmly welcomed the Chairman and his team to Gharo, offering high praise. They noted that more work for outstation employees had been done during MWF’s tenure than ever before, particularly addressing the critical issue of medical services.

Imran Siddiqui reminded employees that the referendum has already been challenged and stressed the importance of staying united. “Do not fall prey to any conspiracies. Remain loyal to Muttahida Workers Front, which truly represents your interests,” he added.

In a significant show of support, several employees, including Shahid Soomro, Yasir Arafat, Muhammad Khan, Muhammad Aslam, Shahjahan Theem, Gul Nawab, and Samad Jan, formally left other unions and joined the Muttahida Workers Front, inspired by MWF’s labour-friendly policies. Chairman Irshad Khan personally welcomed the new members.

The referendum campaign meeting witnessed strong participation from officials and workers from Gharo Division, Dhabeji, Canal, Chilya, and Gujjo.
