Speakers at an event organized by NGO Sujag Sansar Organization (SSO) at Government Boys Primary School Shahmir Gadhi applauded the efforts of the Water Aid Pakistan and Sujag Sansar for providing WASH facilities in schools in Taluka Johi.

Iqbal Shahid, WASH emergency Manager, Water Aid Pakistan, stated that it is vital that after 2022 flood devastation, the reconstruction of school infrastructure should be one of the top priority and SSO has contributed in this responsibility very seriously. He appreciated SSO for providing drinking water, hygiene items, temporary pit latrines and completing construction of Wash rooms and Wash Basins in 10 schools. He also appreciated officials from concerned Government departments for facilitating in providing NOCs and other related support.

Mashooque Birahmani, CEO, thanked Water Aid Pakistan for supporting SSO in providing water through tanker and construction of temporary latrines for flood affected and other needs. He thanked WaterAid Pakistan and different stakeholders particularly community representatives, education, social welfare, district government and teachers and students from different schools for making the SSO and Water Aid work successful.

Muhammad Bux Korai, Educationist and social activist said that he is much impressed by SSO team for arranging this wonderful event where school children from flood affected area have been provided chance to express their views. He said that due to unavailability of the Washrooms in school, student enrolment particularly of the girls remains low but now two separate washrooms for boys and girls are constructed by SSO with support of Water Aid Pakistan, therefore girls enrolment would increases.

Manzoor Ali Samejo, Taluka Education Officer while thanking SSO and WaterAid Pakistan for providing much needed missing facilities of latrines which were damaged during flood and also constructed additional wash rooms with Wash Basins and with water facilities by fixing water motor.

Hidayat Ali Shah, Child protection Authority, said that we are facing many challenges on child protection front. He said that education is basic right of the children. He appreciated SSO for coming to the help of flood affected communities particularly providing missing facilities in the schools.

Gulsher Panhwer, said that after flood, when flood affected families were sitting on banks of bunds and other safer places they faced many challenges. Unavailability of the drinking water and wash rooms created crisis like situation. He said that at this difficult time, SSO with support of water aid Pakistan provided temporary latrines, hygiene kits, conducted hygiene session. This improved health and hygiene of the flood affected families particularly women and girls who faced hardships of privacy.

Ume Aiman of Sujag Sanasr said that SSO not only provided temporary latrines but also undertook repair and reconstruction of WASH facilities in schools which has meet immediate needs of the students particularly girl’s students.

Azra Memon leader of Nari Development Organization said that women of rural are most vulnerable segment of the population, and SSO came forward to provide support to women by providing WASH facilities in flood affected areas.
