According to the Director-Anti Quackery, Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC),there has been an increase in momentum of inspections, across various districts of Karachi.

In January and February of this year, SHCC Anti Quackery teams have conducted over 338 inspections that are continuing round-the-clock on daily basis.

So far, 65 clinics have been sealed under section U/S 39-1 (g) of the SHCC Regulations 2017, with 93 warnings to rectify mistakes.

Moreover, 116 healthcare establishments (HCE’s) have been found in-compliance with the law, as per SHCC Act 2013.

The continued efforts have brought in higher number of clinics under regulatory compliance while improving service delivery standards.

In recent months, number of complaints on quackery have been resolved through active vigilance and random checks.

Moreover, SHCC Anti-Quackery teams are creating awareness during the visits, so that general healthcare practitioners strictly follow SHCC guidelines.

It is important to mention the exceptional support provided by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) with the cooperation of the District Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Strong support is also seen by District SSPs &DIB’s, who are our key stakeholders in the fight against ‘quackery’.

‘ We thank our dedicated law enforcement teams, who are committed on taking strong enforcement actions to eliminate ‘quacks’ from the city’ ,said Director Anti-Quackery Syed Zeeshan Ali Shah.

This joint collaboration has helped SHCC in reducing the ratio of ‘illegal -de-sealing’ of clinics.

Positive media support in highlighting ‘quack’ outlets has further helped in highlighting mal-practices happening in different parts of karachi.

In future, this will further improve the overall functioning of the healthcare establishments (HCE’s) to ensure that the general public has access to quality healthcare in the city and across the province.
