KARACHI: PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has confidently declared his party will win the upcoming general elections. “InshaAllah, the next government will be of the Pakistan Peoples Party,” he said on Friday.

While speaking to the media following the inauguration of the Free Diagnostic Laboratory under the JDC Foundation, Bilawal welcomed the announcement of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that the general elections would be held on February 8.

He added that it would have been preferable that the ECP had set the election date itself, avoiding the need for Supreme Court intervention.

“Whatever has transpired, it is now behind us, and we must focus on holding the elections on February 8,” he added.

Bilawal emphasised the importance of a level-playing field for all political parties in the elections. He pointed out that in in 1988 and 2008, the PPP was not given a level-playing field but it secured its mandate and formed governments.
