A delegation from the KDA Labour Union, led by Patron-in-Chief Muhammad Ashraf, met with Member (A) Shakeel Siddiqui to discuss the timely payment of salaries to employees of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and the Lines Area Redevelopment Project ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
The delegation included union members Hussain Ibrahim Kaka, Zeeshan Qayoom, Naveed Hameed, Arsalan Naqvi, Asif, and Waqas. During the meeting, the union expressed concern over the delay in salary disbursements and urged the authorities to implement an effective strategy to ensure timely payments.
Muhammad Ashraf assured that the union is the voice of the working class and, thanks to the efforts of the labour union, the grant cheque has been deposited. He added that salary disbursements for all KDA and Lines Area Redevelopment Project employees are expected to begin by Thursday.
The delegation also met with Director Land, Asif Chandio, to demand immediate action on pending administrative matters to help generate recoveries that would enable full salary payments. The Director assured the delegation that no further delays would occur in administrative processes that could hinder salary disbursement.
The union also raised the critical issue of medical facilities. They highlighted that dues to Dow Medical Hospital have reached nearly Rs. 60 million, resulting in difficulties for employees in accessing medical care. Muhammad Ashraf appealed to the Director General of KDA and the Member Finance to ensure an immediate payment of at least Rs. 5 million, so employees can receive emergency medical services when needed.
Following the meeting, the delegation thanked the Director General for understanding the urgency of the matter and assuring prompt action regarding medical dues.
