It was revealed that Government departments including Sindh Building Control Authority, Lyari Development Authority, Sindh Master Plan Authority, Sindh Health Department and Command and Control default on more than 3 billion Rupees of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) in terms of rent.

According to details, the offices of all the said Government departments are located in Civic Center Karachi, which is the property KDA and they have got these offices on rental basis from KDA. Director Estate and Enforcement of KDA has issued several letters to all departments for payment of rent but till now they haven’t paid the amount.

Whereas Shakeel Siddiqui Director Estate and Enforcement of KDA has now sent a letter to the said government departments for immediate payment of the arrears . Further it has been revealed that Sindh Building Control Authority has not paid rent to KDA from past 84 months, the total amount of which is more than two billion forty five crores.

While the Lyari Development Authority has also not paid the rent to the KDA from 84 months, the total amount of which is more than 17 million and 35 million. Similarly, the Sindh Master Plan Authority has also not paid the rent of last 84 months to KDA, the total amount of which is more than 61 crores.

However, Command and Control has also not paid rent to KDA from 84 months, the total payable amount is more than 15 crores. While the Director Health Karachi Government of Sindh, whose office is located on the sixth floor of Civic Center, this department has also not paid the rent to KDA from 84 months, the total amount of which is more than thirteen crores.

It was learned that, Karachi Development Corporation is currently facing a severe financial crisis due to which the department is getting a grant of 28 crores from Sindh Government every month for payment of salaries and pensions.

The officers of department urged to the Minister Local Government Sindh and Director General Karachi Development Authority to do efforts to get the payment of the due amount from government departments as soon as possible so that the employees of KDA could be able to get salaries and pension on time. According to sources, KDA employees have not get the payment of current month salaries and pension till yet.
