KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice against the unconstitutional and illegal conduct by the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

The JI leader has made the demand at a press conference held at Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI Karachi headquarters, here on Tuesday.

The JI leader said that PPP resorted to fascism.

A day earlier, he said, the PPP issued a list of UC chairmen belonging to the PTI and claims were made that all of them are going to vote for the PPP, instead of the JI. However, later in the day, some of them issued video messages, clarifying that they are going to vote for the JI, he said, adding that the video messages are also doing rounds on the social media.

PPP stands firm against hatred

Minister for Labour Saeed Ghani, said that PPP holds a significant majority support in Karachi, and the next mayor of the city will be from his party.

Ghani emphasised that Karachi will not be handed over to the ‘Thunder Squad’ and affirmed that the city will not fall under the control of Taliban squatters.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the minister accused Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) of attempting to fuel prejudice and bigotry in their bid for the mayoral position.

JI has yet to denounce the May 9 riots.
