Frere Hall Park Karachi declares as a smoke free Zone

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day 2021, Frere Hall (Bagh e Jinnah) Park has been declared as a smoke free public park.

Frere Hall Park is one of the biggest park of city and located at the district south of Karachi, large number of citizens come to this place on a daily basis.

Tobacco Smoke Free Cities Ministry of NHSR&C in collaboration with Parks and Horticulture Department KMC has fixed at Tobacco Smoke Free signage at the entrance of Park, to inform visitors that this public place is a smoke free zone.

While meeting with the officials of KMC Parks & Horticulture Department Dr. Minhaj us Siraj Project Director Tobacco Control informed that all Public places including parks in Islamabad and other five Districts of Punjab have been already declared as a Tobacco smoke free zone.

He stated that whole world and World Health Organization recognised the efforts of Pakistan for declaring public parks as a smoke free zone and due to this effort Pakistan has also won award from WHO for taking effective measures in protecting lives of people from the hazards of Tobacco use.

Moreover, Muhammad Aftab Project Manager TSFC praised the efforts and support of Commissioner Karachi Office in this noble cause to make Karachi a model smoke free city.

At last Shahid Ahmed Deputy Director Park & Horticulture KMC, Mr. Azad P.A to Director General Park & Horticulture KMC along with Dr Minhaj inaugurated smoke free signage board by ribbon cutting, However the officials of KMC Parks & Horticulture Department assured for the strict implementation on Tobacco Control laws.
