The Director General of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Abdul Rasheed Solangi paid an urgent visit to the Gulshan Mazdoor Colony in Baldia Town following a structural collapse incident last night. A three-story building tilted dangerously to one side due to the failure of one of its pillars, which had given way.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the building had been constructed illegally. The construction materials used were substandard, leading to the structural failure. In response to these findings, the SBCA has decided to file an FIR against both the contractor and the owner of the building.

The Director General Abdul Rasheed Solangi based on the report submitted by the technical committee, has ordered the demolition of the building to prevent any further risk to the residents and nearby structures. This action underscores the commitment of the SBCA to enforce building regulations and ensure public safety.

The incident highlights the severe consequences of using poor quality materials and disregarding legal construction procedures. The building’s columns were unable to bear the load, resulting in the dangerous tilt.

The Director General of SBCA appeals to the citizens to report any buildings with internal or external structural deficiencies. Public cooperation is crucial in identifying and addressing such issues promptly to prevent potential disasters.
