Karachi: (Abdul Aziz Baloch) Smugglers allegedly launched a brutal attack on customs officials in Karachi, injuring four, including customs officials. Saeedabad Police have registered an FIR under anti-terrorism, obstruction of government duty, and other serious charges on the complaint of Customs Officer Hasnain Baloch.

According to details, on March 30, 2025, customs authorities received an intelligence tip-off that a white Suzuki car, number 304-BQY, was making its way from Balochistan to Karachi, suspected of transporting illegal Indian Gutka and drugs. Acting on this information, customs teams set up surveillance at Northern Bypass to intercept the vehicle.

As the suspected car reached Saeedabad police station on Hub River Road, it lost control due to overspeeding and potholes, causing it to overturn. Within moments, around 50 armed smugglers arrived on 27-28 motorcycles and opened indiscriminate fire, creating panic in the area. The attackers also brutally assaulted the customs officers using pistol butts, kicks, and punches.

During the assault, Constable Imad Khan, Constable Aamir, Constable Kashif, and a laborer named Asad were injured. The armed assailants also damaged the official police vehicle. When officials attempted to transport the wounded to the hospital, the attackers followed them on motorcycles and continued their assault at the hospital premises.

Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media, showing the chaos and attack on customs officers.

Saeedabad Police have registered FIR No. 161/25 under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), including 147, 148, 149, 353, 324, 186, 456, 337, and 427. As mentioned in the FIR initial investigations have identified suspects as Kashif Builder, Asif Builder, and Fazal Kareem Petrol Pump Wala, along with 50 unidentified individuals.

Sources reveal that Keamari Police have failed to curb smuggling through the Balochistan route, despite Army Chief General Asim Munir’s strict directives to crack down on illegal activities and smuggling. However, the situation remains unchanged.

According to the sources that key figures from a political party are allegedly backing this smuggling network, providing protection to those involved in illicit trade. With the case now exposed, the public and law enforcement agencies are waiting to see whether the government and security forces take strict action or if the matter is swept under the rug.

Authorities have intensified security across Karachi, and an extensive investigation is underway to apprehend the criminals behind this audacious attack.
