Allamah Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai, a noted Nizari Ismaili Pakistani scholar, is well known for his serious intellectual work in prose; however, a small collection of his poetry entitled Guldastah-yi-Irfan was a pleasant surprise to readers like me, who are not aware of the deep and delicate poetic skills of Allamah Hunzai.

Allamah Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai, who was a fluent writer of several languages, in this book has also proved his excellent command over the Urdu poetic language. His poems have a natural flow and amazing simplicity, despite he has touched some serious philosophical questions about life.

This poetry collection is mainly about the religious thoughts and portrays the deep love of the poet with Allah, the Almighty, and his Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him). However, the traditional topics of classical Urdu poetry like beauty, love, commitment and the mystery of creation of man and his brief stay is this mortal life are also delicately touched here and thee by the learned poet.

This book gifted me by my dear friend Nizar Habib of Hikmat Press is a delight to read besides being a precious food for thought.
