Provincial Tobacco Control Cell Sindh (PTCCS) with the Collaboration of Colleges department organized an awareness session for the lectures and students of District Central colleges .

It was organised at Government Girls Degree College KMC Park Liaquatabad with the support of this college Principal Madam Saima Mushtaq.

Whereas, Lecturers of all colleges of District Central as well as students of different colleges attended the awareness session.

On the other hand, Certificates of Participation were also awarded to the students who participated in the Poster Exhibition held on 31st May 2024 on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day.

Speaking with the participants Co Focal Person for Tobacco Control District Central Professor Shabana Afzal stated that we have received more than sixty nominations of posters in which majority of them were from Girls Colleges, it proves that our students are aware of the tobacco use hazards.

She told that college students and specially teachers have a responsibility to spread awareness of the tobacco use hazards in their respective educational institutions as well as in their society.

Whereas, Tanveer Qaimkhani Provincial Coordinator PTCCS thanked to the Principal of KMC Park Girls College as well as the Focal Person Prof Dr Syed Muhammad and Co Focal Person Prof Shabana Afzal for their vital role in organising the awareness session and certificates distribution ceremony and showing their keen interest in raising awareness among citizens specially youth regarding the hazards of tobacco use.

Whereas the participants also showed their commitment for the confiscation of noval tobacco products i.e nicotine pouches, electronic cigarettes from the students of their respective educational institutions to ensure compliance on Tobacco Control laws.

In concluding remarks Principal of KMC Park Girls College Liaquatabad Madam Saima Mushtaq stressed on the need of the continuity of organising awareness sessions in colleges to protect the students from all forms of tobacco use.

She also assured to declare her college tobacco smoke free zone with pasting of no smoking signages and through adopting ashtray free policy.
