Former Pakistan cricketer, Mohammad Amir, has expressed his opinion on a possible change team management can make for the upcoming clash against India in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023.
Amir emphasized the importance of having a bowler like Usama Mir in the team, highlighting his current form and ability to take wickets in the middle overs.
“I will not talk about who should be excluded from the team but I would try to bring Usama Mir in the team combination. You need wickets in the middle overs and he is the kind of bowler who is in form and taking wickets. He can bat a bit too,” Amir said on a local TV channel.
Another former cricketer, Shahid Afridi, also recently advocated for Mir to be chosen over Shadab Khan in the lineup. Afridi emphasized that there’s a notable disparity in their bowling abilities, praising Usama’s drift and body language as superior.
“There is massive difference in their bowling. In terms of drift and body language Usama is much better,” Afridi said.
The 46-year-old also mentioned that Shadab, once known for scoring crucial runs, hasn’t been delivering in that aspect recently, making the batting difference minimal.
“Shadab used to score some runs but that is not the case right now so there is not much of a difference in their batting as well,” he further added.
