A three-day Capacity Development Workshop, organized by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) in collaboration with the Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB), successfully concluded at Mehran Hotel, Karachi. The workshop centered on the implementation of the Model Assessment Framework (MAF), aiming to build teacher capacity for conducting conceptual, competency-based examinations.

The event brought together teachers from various Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) across Sindh. Designed to deepen teacher’s understanding of standardized assessment frameworks, the training emphasized the nationwide implementation of MAF. Participants are now expected to cascade their learnings within their institutions, promoting consistent and quality-driven assessment practices throughout the region.

The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Naveed Yousuf, CEO Aga Khan University and Examination Boards, as Guest of Honor, and Mr. Raheem Bux Maitlo, Additional Secretary, Universities and Boards Department, Government of Sindh, as Chief Guest. Their presence highlighted the collaborative effort to modernize assessment systems in Pakistan.

On the occasion, Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah and Director General IBCC Karachi, Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Ahsan, addressed the participants. Mr. Ahsan emphasized the significance of integrating co-curricular activities, social responsibility, sports, and leadership development into traditional education models. He also elaborated the IBCC’s mandate and its role in ensuring the quality, equity, and coherence of educational assessments across Pakistan.

Mr. Ahsan stated that, “Empowering educators is the first step towards sustainable reform in assessment practices.”

The workshop concluded with a shared resolve to advance harmonized and progressive examination methodologies that align with global standards and enhance the learning experience for students across Sindh and beyond.
