Sindh Madressatul Islam University Teachers Association (SMUTA) cabinet has shown concern over the dismal state of public universities in Sindh.

SMUTA leadership has expressed it’s anger over the fact that faculty members of a number of universities in Sindh are distressed and have been protesting against the denial of their due rights.

The faculty members of Shaikh Ayaz University Shikarpur was recently in strike, prior to that the faculty members of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Quaid e Awam Engineering University Nawabshah and Sindh Madressatul Islam University Karachi had taken to roads to protest against serious issues.

Even before that faculty members of various other universities have been protesting.

This is a never ending series of protests but unfortunately Sindh Government hasn’t moved a mole to resolve these issues.

In the current times when Covid-19 pandemic has devastated the higher education of the province, dictatorial VCs of public sector universities have ravaged and hollowed the institutes with their predatory policies.

SMUTA demands that Sindh Government and other relevant authorities prompty resolve all issues faced by faculty of various universities in Sindh otherwise faculty preserves the right to widen the circle of its protests.

SMUTA also clarifies that it is always ready to fight on any legal or democratic rounds for the protecting of rights of SMIU’s faculty as well as the faculty of other universities.
