Tobacco Smoke Free Cities Ministry of NHSR&C and Tobacco Control Cell Deputy Commissioner East Office organized an awareness program titled “Tobacco Smoke Free Karachi” in the Council Council Hall of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Zone of DMC East which was attended by Municipal Commissioner Fahim Khan, Executive Engineer M&E  Imtiaz Bhutto, Director Administration Khurshid Ali and officials of various departments of District Municipal  Corporation East .

Municipal Commissioner Faheem Khan on the occasion said that steps taken by the federal and provincial government to curb Tobacco use are commendable. 

Cities could be made smoke-free only by enforcing existing laws of Tobacco Control , he said, adding that all possible co-operation would be ensured in this regard by DMC East.
Moreover he assured to talk with Advertisement Department of DMC to include the slogans of Smoke Free Karachi or No Smoking in their advertisements so that it could play vital role in protecting the lives of people from the dangers of smoking.
He also issued orders regarding implementation of Tobacco Control laws in offices of DMC East.
Participants informed about the Tobacco Control law and stressed that if these laws are enforce,  deaths from smoking can be prevented .
A comprehensive discussion on overall anti-tobacco laws was made part of the Training .

Muhammad Aftab Project Manager TSFC Ministry of NHSRC, Khurram Hashmi Technical Advisor The Union, Coordinator Tobacco Control Cell District East Bilal Zafar provided information to the participants regarding tobacco control laws and answered their questions .
