Karachi (APP) The Engineers of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), registered with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), on Thursday raised reservations over a summary forwarded to Chief Minister Sindh by Director General (DG) SBCA Shamsuddin Soomro for hiring services of new engineers in several sections of the department due to incapability of employees working for decades.

The recognized engineers from PEC of SBCA have come up to react to the summary and said that unprofessional and technically unidentified DG has also been deployed by violating Supreme Court (SC) orders, just to control illegal construction in Karachi now became successfully unsuccessful in the mission.

The engineers, on condition of anonymity, told the PPI that blame for illegal construction is put on all the junior officers working entirely under the command of DG SBCA for being allegedly involved with the builder mafia.

“It is also said that such initiatives by DG are taken to gain hidden goals & gestures for that are received from some other source, which will be revealed as with time,” said an engineer.

He said: “Instead of transferring engineers from Sukkar, Larkana and other cities to Karachi, DG SBCA has forwarded a summary to hire new engineers who are not aware of SBCA rules and regulations,”

It may be noted that Sindh Building Control Authority Director-General Shamsuddin Soomro has sent a summary to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, seeking permission for recruitment in the SBCA on a contractual basis.

The last time appointments were made in the SBCA was in 2011-2013. There were 700-800 vacancies that were filled in the tenure of Manzoor Qadir.
