Karachi: All Sindh Lady Health Workers and Employees Union (ASLHWEU) and Workers Education and Research Organization (WERO) are writing to express our solidarity with the government employees of Punjab especially the Punjab Ladies Health Workers Union (PLHWU), All Pakistan United Irrigation Employees Federation, Public Sector Employees Federation of Pakistan and other PSI affiliates who are protesting for their legitimate rights and demands.
We believe that the Punjab government should treat its employees fairly and equitably and should increase their salaries and benefits in line with the federal government and other provinces.
We also urge the Punjab government to release the pending salaries of the employees without further delay and to restore the facility of leave prior to retirement. Being a front-line healthcare worker immediately accepts the demands of the Punjab Lady Health Workers Union for the provision of a service structure, a harassment-free, safe working environment, and a health risk allowance.
We stand with our fellow workers in their struggle for dignity and justice. We condemn any attempts by the authorities to suppress or intimidate them. It has been four days of protesting, but no one from the government has contacted the protestors. We call on the Punjab government to engage in dialogue with the representatives of the employees and to resolve the issues amicably and peacefully.
We hope that our statement will convey our support and solidarity to the protesting employees of the Punjab government and will inspire others to join them in their cause.
