A Resident of District Korangi Karachi and petitioner against Gutka (Smokeless Tobacco) manufacturers died on Tuesday due to oral cancer.

Advocate Mumtaz Muzamil claimed that, She has died because of non-compliance on SHC orders by the provincial government as they had not provided her medical treatment.

Deceased was a user of smokeless tobacco in the past and was suffering from the disease of oral cancer from couple of months.

It was learned that Sindh High Court summoned the official of the Sindh Government Health Department for 28th February 2020 in the case of Sanober (Patient of Oral Cancer) who had filed a petition for the ban on Gutka and requested for medical treatment.

On the mentioned date during the hearing Additional Advocate General Sindh and health department official assured SHC to provide medical treatment and financial support to said petitioner, who was suffering from oral cancer disease.

Sanober had lodged First Information Report-FIR in Zaman town Police Station on 22nd February 2020,in the FIR she asked for action against gutka, mawa(smokeless tobacco) manufacturers and also nominated some of its manufacturers and sellers.

Advocate Mumtaz Muzamil Meo informed that the petitioner has died today as despite of assuring the medical treatment and financial support before Sindh High Court ,Sindh government has not supported her in any means.

Mumtaz Muzammil stated that Sanober wanted to save the future generations from the use of smokeless tobacco, this is the reason she had filed a petition and also lodged FIR. Unfortunately, she has died today without getting justice or any medical and financial support.

He said that the nominated smokeless tobacco manufacturers in the said FIR Raees Makhan, Asif Kaala, Kashif, Minhaj and others are on bail from court.
