Pakistan’s National Minority Day was solemnly observed in Albany, New York, bringing together representatives from various regions of Pakistan to pay tribute to their non-Muslim religious leaders who have significantly contributed to the nation.
The event featured prominent figures including Hubert George, Pervaiz George, Vajeesh Partab from the Hindu community, Dr. Sabir Michael, Arif David, Ejaz Anthony, Pastor Farooq John, Pastor Yousaf Younus, Pastor Azeem Moon, and Pastor Nadeem Saleem.
During the event, the participants acknowledged and appreciated the government’s efforts towards the welfare of minorities in Pakistan.
However, they also expressed deep concerns regarding the ongoing issues faced by religious minorities in the country.
The leaders highlighted the need for constitutional reforms to ensure religious freedom and the protection of minority rights.
They raised serious concerns about the forcible conversions of Christians and Hindus and the misuse of blasphemy laws, urging for immediate action to safeguard the rights of all citizens.
The event served as a reminder of the ongoing struggles of religious minorities in Pakistan and called for renewed efforts to address these critical issues.
