The Muttahida Qaumi Movement- Pakistan (MQM-P) Coordination Committee members expressed concern over NEPRA’s increase in tariffs on fuel adjustment charges for K Electric, saying in a statement that K Electric was already selling the most expensive electricity to the people of Karachi.
It is making billions of rupees profit from the government. The people are unable to meet even their basic needs due to skyrocketing prices.
The public representatives of Karachi should be taken into confidence before making any decision in this regard.
The members of MQM Pakistan Coordination Committee stated that a full audit of K-Electric should be carried out under the supervision of public representatives of Karachi, NEPRA and other concerned agencies and the report should be made public.
The Coordination Committee members further said that NEPRA should stop K-Electric from increasing the electricity tariff immediately and the notification of increase in electricity should be withdrawn immediately.
However, MQM Pakistan Coordination Members urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of increase in electricity prices.
