Making Pakistan a truly welfare state instead of a security state is our toughest challenge, said noted human rights attorney and president of Lawyers for Human Rights and Legal Aid (LHRLA) Zia Ahmed Awan, speaking as panelist in TV program “Sawal hi Pakistan ka” held in the auditorium of Indus University.
He said when we today revisit the Pakistan Resolution, it seems that we have lost the vision of our founding fathers.
He said ban on students’ unions in General Zia era was the huge loss for Pakistan and its civil society.
He said the students union were the nurseries that give political leadership and trade union leadership to this country.
He said now only the sons and daughters of the elite class people and tycoons become MNAs, as they have money and power to enter the politics.
Zia Ahmed Awan said that we have to restore our previous political values and take efforts to make Pakistan a welfare state from a security state.
He said making Pakistan a security state has made us unsecure, as our neighbors have no more remained our friends.
He said that this should be our agenda to secure the future of our coming generations.
