In January Joe Biden will step into White House as a president, but before putting his feet into presidential shoes he struggled and worked for the betterment of the America as a Vice President, his diligence was out of question but he also would have envisioned for this slot of presidency.
Likewise, there is another character from the desert of Tharparkar, a southern and remotest region of Pakistan, who has same ambition as Joe Biden. Jai Mala, who’s working as opposition leader in Child parliament, lost her election by one vote.
However, she didn’t lose hope and continued her struggle for the betterment of the region. Simultaneously, she started another initiative that has been always closer to her heart.
She brought some books from her shelf and asked friends to do the same as she aspired to build library at her school. Once, small setup was installed, she made her initiative viral with the help of social media. Her campaign gathered hundreds of books for library. P
eople’s interest to denote books and help the one who is sincere with one’s purpose like Jai Mala. She is not only creating reading culture among peers but also inspiring thousands of others towards positive path.
Her devotion towards education in the region like Tharparkar is unmatched.Inspiring from Thar Education Alliance she commented that she also wants to contribute positively in society like this organization.
Her campaign was responded positively not only by educationists but with same passion politicians and people from other walks of life also supported her.
When contacted with Jai Mala Chouhan via phone call, she said , “It doesn’t depend upon position or office one is holding but intention of doing good things can be done in any capacity.”
Her aim in future is to clear CSS and contribute at large level by bringing significant change in the unserved area like Thar.
Parents’ role in remote areas is vital. Malala has her father at her back. Similarly, Jai Mala has her mother as a backbone to her struggle.
She thanked her mother immensely while answering the question who is her support system in all this journey.
Agenda of her election campaign in the Child Parliament was peace, she thinks her initiative of the library will strengthen her agenda, books are the best preachers of peace.
Observing her leadership skills Partab Shivani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Thar Education Alliance (TEA), commented, “One of the qualities of a leader is to not only to lead but to create space for second leadership.
Jai Mala has done this brilliantly as she involves her other fellows in the campaign initiated by her”.
Shivani expressed that, TEA supports this initiative because it is linked to the Peace.
In gone days there used to be the activities like theatres, conferences, muhashairas promoting peace but nowadays they are hardly in practice. In these times, if any initiative that helps to bring such peace-supporting activities into action, they must be encouraged.
TEA will continue to support her initiative through trainings and social media promotion to harbor more peace seeking leaders. Shivani added.
