Lady health workers Union in collaboration with Workers Education and Research Organization celebrated International Womens Day
All Sindh Lady Health Workers and Employees Union , Workers Education and Research Organization and Public Services International organized a grand event on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 in Chambar, in which lady health workers, lady health supervisors, journalists, community leaders and representatives of political parties participated in large numbers.
Among the special guests of the event Honorable Haji Farhan Ali Patafi (Coordinator), Hon’ble Waseem Latif Mangreo (District President PPP Youth Organization), Honorable Gibran Amin Haidari (Former Town Chairman Chambar), Honorable Qamarul Hasan (IUF), Mutharma Nasreen Qamar (social worker)
Ms. Samina Mir (Social worker), Zulqarnain (Executive Director CRO) and others were present. Speakers in their address paid rich tribute to all women, including the martyr Ms. Benazir Bhutto, on International Women’s Day.
On this occasion Ms. Halimaan Leghari Zulqarnain (Central President) Ms. Shama Gulani (General Secretary), Mir Zulfiqar Ali (Executive Director WERO), presented various demands for the rights of lady health workers in their address, in which they calked upon the government of Sindh to restore the health risk allowance, create a service structure, give time scale to in service LHWs, give pension and compensation to retired lady health workers. They also demanded Polio payment to lady health workers should be increased, ILO Convention C190 against all forms of violence at work should be ratified immediately, health and safety of lady health workers should be ensured during work, PPP co-Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah (minister) already promised to restore the health risk allowance and other demands should be implemented.
At the end of the ceremony, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, a cake was cut and good wishes were expressed for women.
