In celebration of the 38th Foundation Day of MQM-Pakistan’s Labour Division, the KDA Employees Union (CBA) organized a grand event on Wednesday at the KDA Building, Civic Center Karachi.

Addressing the gathering, MQM Pakistan Labour Division Senior Leader Abdul Haseeb congratulated KDA employees and urged Sindh Local Government Minister and Governing Body Chairman Saeed Ghani to immediately approve the pro-labour Charter of Demands.

He emphasized the importance of fulfilling workers’ rights, warning that if demands were ignored, KDA employees would be left with no choice but to protest.

Labour Division Incharge Arshad Ansari recalled the labour division’s establishment 37 years ago for workers’ rights.

He noted that recent protests and employees unity had led to the Sindh Government issuing a letter for a Governing Body (GB) meeting. However, he warned that if the KDA administration failed to address workers’ concerns, protests would escalate, with demonstrations in the Sindh Assembly, Karachi Press Club, and even a shutdown of KDA operations.

He also challenged rival unions to a referendum, asserting that CBA had won in the past through worker solidarity and would do so again.

Whereas, Speaking at the event Chief Organizer of the KDA Unit Syed Imran Hussain congratulated workers and reaffirmed MQM Pakistan inclusive ideology, which serves all communities beyond ethnic and regional lines. He dismissed criticisms of CBA’s work and highlighted several key achievements, including: 150+ employee promotions (Grades 1-16), Approval of risk allowance for security and enforcement staff, Inclusion of Dow Medical Hospital in KDA’s healthcare panel, Renovation of KDA schools, improving educational facilities for children and Pushing for the approval of the Pro-Labour Charter of Demands.
