ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Monday reached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking protective bail in cases pertaining to clashes between PTI workers and police personnel during his earlier Federal Judicial Complex appearance.
According to reports, Imran’s bail application has not been scheduled for a hearing yet.
PTI senior leaders Fawad Chaudhary, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Sabtain Khan and party lawyers are present in large numbers inside the courtroom.
The former premier will supposedly seek interim bail in all five cases, potentially for security concerns. Imran is accompanied by his two senior lawyers, Naeem Panjotha and Salman Safdar.
Crackdown on PTI workers
In a separate development, Islamabad Police reportedly attempted to arrest Ghulam Sarwar Khan. However, he managed to escape along with his caravan.
The official photographer of the deposed prime minister Naumanji was reportedly picked up by the police. As per reports, three other PTI workers were also transferred to the prisoner’s vehicle.
Several party leaders reached the motorway toll plaza, while PTI supporters began gathering at the Rawalpindi toll plaza.
Earlier today, the IHC adjourned a hearing requesting the provision of details for the cases registered against the PTI chief.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case, and Imran’s lawyers complained about the difficulty in reaching the court, to which the judge stated that he had to come through the same route and security was arranged for PTI leaders.
During the hearing, the federation government requested extra time to provide information.
The court adjourned further the case till Tuesday and ordered the Federal Investigation Agency and the Islamabad Police to inform the IHC about the number of cases pending against Imran by tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has summoned seventeen PTI leaders including the PTI chief, to join the investigation regarding the terror charges against them.
PTI Secretary General Asad Umar, Murad Saeed, Aamir Kiyani, Shibli Faraz, and Ali Amin Gandapur are some of the leaders that have been summoned.
