Auqaf Karachi Circle Government of Sindh in collaboration with Tobacco Control Directorate Ministry of NHSR&C decided to aware masses regarding the hazards of Tobacco use.
In continuation of Ministry of National Health Services program “Smoke Free Karachi”, Auqaf Department has forwarded the paper to all clerics of Auqaf Department Mosques in which Hadees and Quranic verses were mentioned regarding the hazards of Tobacco use , which they shared with the masses in Jummatul Wida Sermon.
Whereas Government of Pakistan and District Governments in Karachi have already started working to make Karachi a Smoke Free City and spreading awareness among public regarding the dangerous of Tobacco Products use.
In Pakistan 160,000 People die every year due to the use of Tobacco Products , which is 834 deaths daily. It is an alarming situation for low income countries like Pakistan that large numbers of people are dying due to the use of tobacco products.
According to the directives of Auqaf Department it has issued directions to all Clerics (Ulema) to play their role in spreading awareness regarding tobacco control among society as their role is very important in bringing positive and healthy change among young generations .
Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination has announced to celebrate this year with the theme of “ Commit to Quit Tobacco Use”.
This social message from the mosques would give better outcomes as large number of people come in mosques on the day of Jummatul Wida (Last Friday of Ramadan), so that the message of Quitting Tobacco use would be conveyed into large number of public on this day.
These initiatives would be proved fruitful to save our future generations from the hazards of Tobacco use like cancer , heart and other diseases.
