The Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town Council has approved its annual budget for the fiscal year 2025–26. The budget, totaling Rs 1.62 billion, was presented during a council meeting chaired by Town Chairman Dr. Fauad Ahmed. All council members gave their approval in full agreement.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Dr. Fauad Ahmed described the budget as a reflection of development, transparency and inclusive consultation.
He emphasized that government officials and public representatives are like two wheels of the same vehicle, working together for the betterment of the town.
He noted that the budget was prepared by considering both international standards and local ground realities, while also incorporating suggestions and feedback from the citizens to ensure better municipal services at the fundamental level.
Dr. Fauad added that while disagreements are natural, they should be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding.
He also highlighted that during the previous fiscal year, 82% of the projected revenue targets were achieved within just 11 months demonstrating both realistic planning and strong financial discipline.
Opposition leader Aslam Kalmati praised the spirit of unity among the council members, stating that all representatives of Gulshan-e-Iqbal function like a family.
The newly approved budget allocates funds for essential municipal services, including sanitation, road repairs, installation and improvement of streetlights, park restoration, and various other development projects.
The session was also attended by Vice Chairman Ibrahim Siddiqui, other council members, and departmental officials.
The approved budget is widely seen as a forward-looking roadmap aimed at enhancing essential municipal services and marking a significant step toward sustainable urban development and citizen well-being.
