Customs seize Smuggled Goods worth Rs1268m from Karachi

Collectorate of Customs Preventive Karachi has seized large quantity of smuggled items worth rupees 1268 Million in a period of three month.

Speaking with media M. Saqif Saeed Collector Customs Preventive Karachi stated that the department has seized the smuggled products within three months fortunately the department has achieved the target of FBR by seizing more than 95 Million rupees goods from the set goal .

Whereas he revealed that, The smugglers has set up their shops and godowns in different parts of the city specially near commercial hub and they have planned a strategy to resist against any action by the department .

He further added that the smugglers gave residence to their labourers near by the godowns and shops to resist in case of any action and they also tried to disturb the law and order situation.

In recent raids the smugglers they damage the state property and also fire on customs personnel’s, he added.

Customs top Official stated that, As per the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan customs has given leading agency level regarding anti-smuggling, in this regards committees has been formed on provincial and divisional level.

Moreover he informed that all law enforcement agencies are included in the said committee to take effective majors against smuggling for the stability of country’s economy.

He also warned for strict action in case of any resistance or hurdle in the work of customs.

Further he urged public to support the initiatives of the department and urged citizens to point out the smugglers and the smuggled products if it is available anywhere in city.

It was learned that during the period of October 2019 to December 2019 customs has seized 15,704 Boxes of cigarettes, 302 Kg Narcotics, 39 Bottles of Liquor, 32 Vehicles, 105,500 Liters Diesel, 243 tons betel nuts, 11 tons Gutka, 98 Tons Fabric, 131 Units of confiscated vehicles used in smuggling & including large number of miscellaneous goods.

However, 467 total cases registered within the said period .

As per the monthly performance report of department ,successful raids had been conducted in Site Area, Jamia Cloth Market, City Railway Station, Regal Chowk and Joria Bazar within the duration of three months in the city .
