Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid today visited the ZABTech office in Azam Town Karachi. Executive Director of ZABTech Waheeda Mahesar and staff welcomed the Chairperson BISP on her arrival.
During the visit, Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized on providing technical and vocational skills training to deserving women and their children. She said that we want to empower the poor and backward classes economically through skill training so that not only there is significant development in the country’s industry and crafts but also skilled youth can get job opportunities at home and abroad.
Senator Rubina Khalid, while interacting with the students undergoing training in beautician, fashion designing, culinary art, kitchen making, industrial stitching, welding, and electrician courses, said that we hope that you will start your own business by getting education in various technical and artistic skills and improve the economic conditions of your families.
Chairperson BISP further said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had said that skill is your capital which no one can take away from you. Therefore, we have to equip our people with modern technical skills. She stressed the importance of introducing innovations in the sectors related to the fashion industry and producing products according to the requirements of the market. She also proposed to adopt innovation by inviting various dress designers in the country to improve the boutique industry.
Executive Director ZABTech Waheeda Mahesar, while informing the Chairperson BISP about the various programs being conducted in the institution, said that ZABTech Azam Town Karachi Center is providing training in 14 different technical and vocational skills to the underprivileged and poor children.
Senator Rubina Khalid said that career counseling sessions should also be started for those who are learning skills in different fields at the ZABTech Center so that those who are getting training from ZABTech can also be assured of employment in the market according to their skills.
