At least eight people were injured when a blast reportedly targeted a vehicle of security forces in Peshawar’s Warsak road area on Monday.

Superintendent Warsak Division, while expressing grief over the tragic incident, alleged that the blast seemed to be an “IED explosion.” However, the nature of the explosion will be confirmed after a Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) report. Officials are further investigating the incident, he added.

Security forces cordoned off the area following the attack and emergency teams shifted the injured to nearby medical facilities.

The injured were initially transferred to Prime Hospital. However, the Rescue 1122 team will now move them to Lady Reading Hospital for further treatment.

The blast, which took place near the Machni Gate police station, injured five Frontier Corps personnel and three civilians.
