The Christian faithful of Rawalpindi-Islamabad filled with the joy and happiness of Christ’s birth placed a Big Christmas tree at the central point of the city at Kacheri Chowk.
People of Pakistan decorate Christmas Trees, Stars and Cribs at Churches, houses and in their streets as they celebrate Christmas season and prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Archbishop Joseph Arshad of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Diocese have inaugurated the Christmas tree which was decorated and placed by Christians at the central point of the city at Kacheri Chowk comes under the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi Development Authority.
This placing of huge Christmas tree took place under the supervision of Mr. Albert David, member at National Commission for Minorities Pakistan, who initiated this with his team and placed it after taking permission from the Authorities.
Prelate of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Diocese prayed for all the Christians and for brother hood, peace and for the prosperity of Pakistan and said that this Christmas tree is a symbol of joy and witness, to Christ’s birth; he also invited all the Christians and other communities to visit it and celebrate the joys of Christmas with them.
Mr. Albert David while preparing and displaying the Christmas Tree in his comments on his social media account had said that we have seen the decoration at many churches, hotels and shoping moles but we made a plan to display it on the Kacheri Chowk, main and central road of Rawalpindi which is a link road towards Murry, Mall Road, and to old International Airport, Islamabad, from where thousands of vehicles moves towards.
Mr. David further said that it is a main place where there are famous schools, colleges Fatima Jinnah Women University and 3 big Hospitals. In addition to this, a variety of dining options are available ranging from Fast Food to Desi restaurants include McDonalds and Alif Laila Biryani House are also in the same surrounding area. This Christmas Tree will be a witness of Christmas and birth of Christ, his team has worked hard to make his dream of years to happen, he did all this so people may see, enjoy and celebrate the festivity of the birth of Christ.
Previously in 2018 they had placed tree in the same place but this time it is bigger one but his team is also planning to make it more huge in coming year. He also admired the response of administration of District who are fully supporting them by proving the permission and all the electricity.
Mr. David also requested all the Christians and Churches to come here and see it and even come with their Choirs to sing the Advent Hymns and celebrate Christmas season and give witness to Christ’s Birth.
Mrs. Mariyam Kashif, human rights and social activist from Karachi told that this is a sign of religious freedom, a message of hope, love and diversity we have in our country, Pakistan and we must show it through these types of activities and make them as a witness to the whole world. Christmas Tree placed at the center of Rawalpindi City, Become a Witness of Christ’ Birth, Kashif Anthony added.
Our country and whole world is going through a difficult time of Pandemic but this shows that we have not lost our hope in Christ and in this time of temptation and difficulty, and while celebrating Christmas, we are still faithful and praying for our Country’ well being and prosperity.
