The Founder and the Chairman of Jamshed Foundation (JF), Advocate Jamshed Ali Khowaja on Friday extended his wishes to all Hindu community of Pakistan as well as across the world on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights.
The Hindu community residing in Pakistan and around the world is celebrating the occasion, which is also known as the festival of lights, with traditional zeal and fervour.
The event symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness and good over evil. According to the Hindu belief, it is observed in honour of deities Rama and Sita’s return to Ayodhya after their 14-year exile, and the destruction by Goddess Durga of a demon called Mahisha.
Diwali also celebrates the goddess of wealth and prosperity, Lakshmi.The Hindu community celebrates the event by decorating houses with lamps called ‘diyas’.
Advocate Jamshed Khowaja greeted the Hindus and called for strengthening interfaith harmony for promoting the cause of peace in the country and in the region.
”I wish to extend heartiest greetings to the Hindus on the occasion of Deewali”, he said in a statement.
“On this occasion we also reiterate our commitment to fight religious apartheid and promote interfaith harmony in the country and everywhere,” he added.
