The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has suspended two senior officials after preliminary findings revealed serious procedural violations in the verification and pre-transfer process of a plot originally allotted to Mst. Bilquis Begum in North Nazimabad area.

According to an official order issued by the KDA Secretariat, irregularities were detected in the handling of Plot No. A-235, Block-H, North Nazimabad, Karachi. The suspensions were ordered following a report submitted by the Member Admin KDA.

The officers who suspended were included Khalid Akhter Qureshi, Deputy Director (Information Technology), currently serving as Additional Director in Land Management and Muhammad Naseem Ahmed, Assistant Executive Engineer from the North Karachi Division, currently serving as Assistant Director in Land Management.

The action was taken after it was found that the General Power of Attorney (GPA) formed on the basis of sub-power used in the transfer process, was never verified.
This lapse occurred despite repeated directives and correspondence by the Directorate.

The officers allegedly facilitated the plot transfer without ensuring the required GPA verification, reflecting gross negligence and serious misconduct.

Under the provisions of the Efficiency & Discipline Rules, 1973, both officers have been suspended with immediate effect, pending a formal inquiry.

According to the KDA Secretariat order both suspended officers will receive subsistence allowance during the suspension period and have been instructed not to leave the station without prior approval.

Whereas Asif Raza Chandio Director Land Management KDA, has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer and he has been directed to submit a comprehensive inquiry report within 15 days to the Director General, KDA.
