KDA All Trade Unions Action Committee holds protest in Civic Center against recent posting of Chief Engineer
A peaceful protest was organized by the KDA All Trade Unions Action Committee in front of the DG Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Office, Civic Center 1st floor.
Addressing the protestors, President of KDA Employees Union (CBA) Muhammad Abdul Maruf said that today’s peaceful protest of the KDA All Trade Unions Action Committee reflects that the chief engineer coming from outside would not be accepted at any cost This city Karachi was developed by KDA and KDA engineer.
He stated that,The most senior engineer of KDA should be posted on the post of Chief Engineer.
The Constitution and By Laws of KDA says that the Chief Engineer of KDA will be on the post of Chief Engineer, So we demand the Director General, Minister of Local Government Sindh that the Chief Engineer should be posted from KDA.
Moreover he said,The High Court’s order to regularize contract employees should be implemented immediately.
Whereas, KDA Mazdoor Union, KDA Labor Union, KDA Workers Union and KDA Employees Union workers and office bearers participated in this protest, he added.
Abdul Maroof said that, CBA stands shoulder to shoulder for the rights of KDA employees.
On this occasion, KDA Labor Union President Qamar uz Zafar said that the Director General of KDA is the father and the Chief Engineer is the mother of department. To prove that we are one for the survival of KDA, I demand the Minister of Local Government Sindh, Director General KDA to approve a special grant of three billion immediately so that the dues of the retired employees can be paid.
On this occasion, Chairman of KDA Labour Union, Abdul Mateen, told that the chief engineer coming from outside is not acceptable in any cost,Our protest is the first step, But the outsiders should not be tolerated. The order of the High Court to regularize the contract employees should be implemented immediately and employment should be provided to the contract employees, he said.
Sajid Hussain of KDA Workers Union said that they will not tolerate the Chief Engineer coming from outside under any circumstances, our protest is peaceful and he also announced to support CBA in this regard.
In this protest, General Secretary of KDA Employees Union (CBA) Qamar Abbas and Secretary Information Yasir Ali and members of Unit and Union Committee, members of KDA Labour Union, members of KDA Workers Union, large number of KDA employees and officers of the Trade Unions Action Committee participated.
