Renowned businessman and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Hassan Khan, ticket holder for NA-248, issued a statement on World Press Freedom Day, paying tribute to the courageous struggle and sacrifices of journalists.

In his statement, he said that in Pakistan, the standard-bearers of press freedom have been imprisoned, beaten, and even killed, while dozens have been abducted, but we salute these brave journalists who never bowed down to the ruthless powers and their struggle will ultimately be successful, and the tyrannical forces will face a crushing defeat.”

World Press Freedom Day is celebrated on May 3rd every year to raise awareness about the importance of press freedom and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
