Second PNDS International Conference on triple burden on Malnutrition in Pakistan concluded at local hotel of Karachi on Sunday former Dean (JSMU) Dr.Lubna Baig attended the event as the chief guest ,while European  Nutrition experts, Practitioners from Pakistan and global Organizations are presented the scientific papers , share their knowledge and create awareness of the severity of increasing burden of Malnutrition in the World.

Speaking at the last day of the Conference Former Dean JSMU Dr.Lubna Baig congratulated the Organizers of PNDS that despite of COVID -19 and within limited funds they organized the wonderful Conference. She stressed on the need to use modern nutritional techniques to treat various diseases as supportive treatment.

Dr.Fayaza Khan , President PNDS in her concluding remarks said that unabated undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies and rise in obesity in Pakistan which is leading to Diabetes and other chronic diseases is manageable, So we are adopting multi sectoral approach by such conferences that we invited all stakeholders from UNICEF,WHO ,Nutrition International,Government National and Provincial Nutrition Programs officials in our conference to address malnutrition,Obesity leading to diabetes and other chronic diseases associated with nutritional deficiency.

She thanked all participants and specially her Sponsors PharmEvo,IBL and Engro because without their generous support this conference did not held .She stressed on Community engagement to reduce the disease burden from the society.

Dietician Saima Rasheed,Executive council member PNDS  shared the important component of  COVID patients nutrition management plan as well stressed the need of locomotion otherwise a muscular disorder ‘Sarcopenia ‘ may be effect them and given her thoughtful insight about Malnutrition and BMI (Body Mass Index) variable values in old age peoples during Public awareness session.

Head of Physiotherapy Dept. NICVD  Javed Khanzada discussed the importance of breathing exercises during COVID -19.

UK nutrition society President & CEO Mark Hollingsworth and

International Union of Nutritional Scientists President, Professor Alfredo Martinez from Spain addressed in the concluded session and announced the opportunity of Internships to Pakistani Nutrition students to get hands-on experience in European Countries.
