The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UOK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Al-Khawarazmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS), University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore.

This MoU aims to initiate official coordination between the two organizations especially in the field of genomics involved in cancer or other chronic diseases.

The Spokesman of the ICCBS – University of Karachi on Friday said that the MOU was signed in a ceremony held at the KICS-UET Lahore on Thursday (August 26, 2021). Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator-General, and KICS-UET Director Prof. Dr. Waqar Mahmood have signed the MOU on behalf of their institutions.

According to the spokesman, both the institutions agreed to collaborate in various areas, including joint effort for solving research problems especially in the field of genomics involved in cancer or other chronic diseases.

This MoU also includes sharing of computer science skills from KICS side and biological science domain knowledge from the ICCBS side through mentoring and training, he said, adding that joint research publications are also the part of this agreement.

According to the MOU, this agreement will be in effect for a period of one year from the date of execution and may be extended by mutual agreement in writing by both parties.
