Workshop held on Democratic participation of minorities in Elections
Hyderabad: Friedrich Naumann Foundation organized a two day workshop in a hotel at Hyderabad, on Democratic participation of minorities in elections.
The objective of the workshop was to encourage minorities to play a positive role in elections, promote inclusive society and work for progressive Pakistan.
The session was conducted by Ross Mahtani. There were diverse recommendations from the group, for instance, giving minorities’ tickets on general seats, giving representation to minority women in elections, giving space to minority issues in manifestos, implementation for pro-minority laws and implementation of job quota for minorities.
The participants in the workshop also recommended celebration of minority festivals at government level.
The workshop was supported by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
Muhammad Anwar while speaking on the occasion, highlighted FNF is working in Pakistan , Muhammad Anwar said we are working on this particular issue in across the Pakistan , the youth of Sindh is highly educated and more potential , we must urge to our youth to take a part in the genral election or local government election especially youth from minority community.
He said the youth of the county can play a vital role in every sector in the country so we are trying to motivate youth for social change.
The workshop attended by participants from the different area of sindh province , while speaking in the workshop participants the said we must take part in the election and we need to bring change in our ears and also they said we need to highlight issues of our ears for the betterment of people.
They said the people are suffering from serious issue nobody is serious to address their issues from now we try our best.
