Adnan Arain President United Officers forum Karachi in a Press Statement stated that some elements despite of performing their duties with honesty running a campaign to defame their departments , it is a violation of Section 8 to Defamation Ordinance 2002.
Some people are defaming local government institutions of karachi city specially DMC East for their personal interests and gradually running malicious campaign against different departments of District Municipal Corporation East.
They are defaming by publishing fake news and malicious campaign on social media, if it is aim for the betterment of department then we would appreciate but if it aim for corruption then it would be rejected, he added.
Moreover he said, Majority of officers in DMC East are honest and it is not right to defame the whole department due to some corrupt elements.
He asked that DMC East is providing municipal facilities to every citizen and to sabotage their efforts some people are using negative tactics to slow the pace of dmc east efforts for the prosperity of district east.
Adnan Arain shared that “ we have reserved right to take legal action and would move to court to take legal action against them”.
Whereas he praised the efforts of Administrator DMC East Muhammad Ali Shah and Municipal Commissioner Shoaib Malik and said that theses officers are busy in serving the residents of districts east .
He asked to quit running malicious campaign and work for the prosperity of city, otherwise legal action under defamation ordinance and cyber crime act would be taken against them who are running malicious campaign .
Further he asked journalist community to publish any news after getting the point of view by following the journalistic values, as we are the supporters of the freedom of press.
