There should be no gas loadshedding during Sehri and Iftaar hours: Sindh Government Spokesperson Sukhdev Hemnani

Spokesperson for Sindh Government Sukhdev Hemnani expressed concern over the ongoing gas loadshedding during the holy month of Ramzan, particularly between Sehri and Iftar hours.

“Gas loadshedding in several areas of Karachi, as well as other districts, is concerning. Despite Ghotki district significantly contributing to country’s gas production, it is experiencing severe gas load-shedding at this time,” stated Sukhdev Hemnani.

Spokesperson emphasized that the continuous gas disruptions since last year have made life unbearable for the public.

He urged that Sui Southern Gas Company must ensure gas supply, especially during Iftar and Sehri times, and avoid causing distress to the public.

Sukhdev Hemnani pointed out that Sindh produces 65% gas for the country and is still subjected to severe gas loadshedding. “Article 158 clearly mandates that in case of natural gas, the Province in which a well head is situated shall have precedence over other parts of the country in meeting the requirement from the well head situated in that particular Province,” he added.

“The unfair distribution of gas violates Article 158 of the Constitution. Sui Southern Company must ensure a fair distribution of gas,” stated Hemnani.

Spokesperson also urged the Prime Minister to take immediate notice of the gas loadshedding during Sehri and Iftar times in Sindh.
