KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Chief Minister’s Adviser on Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab have demanded suo motu action on the recent interview of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and activities of President Arif Alvi in the Presidency.

“The country is facing a serious crisis due to the unconstitutional dissolution of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assemblies,” they said, adding that a probe should be initiated into whether the two assemblies had been dissolved in a constitutional manner.

Efforts are underway for a judicial coup in the country, they said while speaking at a joint press conference at the Sindh Archives Complex on Tuesday. Memon said that in the past things used to happen behind closed doors but now they are in front of the whole nation. “Questions are being raised on how cases are being decided by our judiciary on personal likes and dislikes,” he alleged.

The minister said that Imran had made dangerous revelations in his recent TV interview. He revealed his meeting with General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa in August in the President House, while he had already launched a social media campaign against Bajwa, Memon said and asked: “Has the Presidency become the hub of conspiracies?”

The meeting between an army chief and a former prime minister had been kept secret as no press release had been issued by the President House.
