Sindh Journalists Council (SJC) Organized Journalists Conference on First Death Anniversary of Martyr Journalist Aziz Memon at National Museum Karachi and demanded for the arrest of his killers & to take measures for the safety of Journalists.

Speaking at the Conference Senior Journalist Mazhar Abbas stated that till date no killer of any journalist got arrested and it is the responsibility of government to provide safety to every journalist.

He demanded for High Level enquiry of Martyr Journalist Aziz Memon killing.

Whereas Senior Journalist & President SJC Ghazi Jhandir said the main accused who involved in murder of Journalist Aziz Memon is free from the last one year of incident, police is unable to arrest the main accused.

He shared that SJC and all journalists would continue to raise voice until the main culprits would not get arrested.

Further he said Media industry is facing worst crisis of history and on another hand journalists have not provided any safety and security.

However, speaking with participants Syed Nasir Hussain Shah Provincial Minister of Information stated that Pakistan Peoples Party always talk about freedom of Journalism and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari gave special instructions regarding Journalist Aziz Memon case.

While announcing prize money for the one who will share information regarding the killers of Journalist Aziz Memon, he asked that the killers would be behind bars very soon and will provide employment to Martyr Journalist children’s on merit.

He also assured journalists for disposal of all fake cases on them. 

Provincial Minister Information informed moot that Chief Minister Sindh gave directives to IG Sindh to close all fake cases on journalists. 

Whoever registered fake case on journalist would be punished, he added. 

He told about the Provincial Journalists Protection Bill which would be present in cabinet for approval very soon.

He asked Journalist Organizations to get register their workers in SESSI to avail the facilities of health, education and residence.

He urged media organizations to not sack any employee and pay the monthly salaries on time.

Renowned & Senior Journalists Imtiaz Khan Faran, Khursheed Abbasi, Ahmed Malik, Shabbir Lashari, Najeeb Naich including son of Journalist Aziz Memon and large numbers of journalists from all over sindh participated in the event and also shared their views.
