Sindh Agriculture Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahu said on Friday that the provincial government has decided to appoint Price Magistrate to control the prices of essential commodities in the province.

“After getting approval of the provincial cabinet, the applications would be invited through newspaper advertisements for appointing the Price magistrates,” he said in a statement.

The government is devising a new mechanism to control the hoarding and inflation and the Price Magistrates would play an important role in this regard,” he stated adding that the Price Magistrates would submit daily reports and in case of failure, action would be taken against them.

Rahu said that government has activated the special magistrates, district and divisional administrations to keep strict check on prices in the open market. “Now they are conducting raids on daily basis while complaints centers are being established at big bazaars.”

He said that very soon the price lists would be made available on daily basis on mobile phones and social media.

Criticizing the federal government, Rahu said they shut down 400 utility stores on the excuse of being run in losses on one hand and have decided to open
30,000 stores on the other.

He suggested the federal government to issue Ration Cards across the country to control the price-hike.
