Chairman Mazdoor KDA Union Abdul Mateen Sheikh urged to the provincial government for opening of all the offices of Karachi Development Authority by ensuring implementation on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of COVID-19, which the other departments are already following.
It was learned that the Delegation of Mazdoor Union CBA KDA headed by Chairman Abdul Mateen Sheikh along with General Secretary Ashfaq Ahmed Chishti and Senior vice President Ghulam Nabi Shah met with newly posted Director General KDA Asif Ikram.
Abdul Mateen Sheikh stated that the issues of KDA Employees Medical, Salaries, pensions including refunds of retired employees and others discussed during the meeting.
He shared that DG KDA gave positive response for the resolution of issues. Whereas Chairman of Union said union asked DG KDA to continue the auction process which the past DG had initiated .
Due to lockdown KDA employees are facing severe financial crisis , if the offices of department would open then KDA could generate revenue and could be financially stable, he added.
Moreover he said that union demanded DG KDA to open all the offices of department by following SOPs as like the other departments including offices, businesses, transport and others are open.
Sharing about the issues of KDA he added that, In the current situation KDA is facing financial issues in the payment of employees salaries , pensions and other expenses as the department was already getting 200 million from sindh government as a grant.
KDA is not paying the salaries , pensions and the dues to retired employees due to the shortage of funds, Employees of department are facing severe issues, he said.
Further he stated, DG KDA assured for the full support to take every initiative for the financial stability of department .
He informed that Asif Ikram asked union to gave suggestions about the competent officers who can gave positive results .
Chairman Mazdoor Union said numbers of people would die because of hunger which would be more than as compare to the numbers of COVID-19 deaths.
He urged Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah to resolve the issue of KDA employees on a priority basis as it the matter of life and death for employees .
