Sindh Government taking steps for improvement of water supply and drainage in Karachi, Salman Abdullah Murad

Karachi: Sindh Government is taking steps for further improvement of water supply and drainage in the city, because providing better water supply and drainage facilities to citizens is included in our manifesto, A joint committee consisting of Towns Chairman and Water Board officers should be established to prevent water theft and fair distribution in the city, So that water can be distributed fairly in the city, These views were expressed by Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad while addressing a high level meeting regarding fair distribution of water in Chairman Secretariat Karsaz.

In the meeting, senior leaders of PPP Syed Najmi Alam, Ali Ahmad Jan, Karamullah Waqasi, Town Chairman Baldia, Central, Mominabad, Morro Mir Bahar and COO Water Board Engineer Asadullah Khan, Muhammad Hanif Baloch, Nadeem Ahmed Kirmani Agha Saeed and other senior officials of the Water Board were also present.
On this occasion, PPP leader Syed Najmi Alam said that emergency measures should be taken to prevent water theft and water leakage in the city.

While addressing the newly elected Chairman’s, he asked to cooperate fully with the Water Board for fair distribution of water.

However Pakistan Peoples Party leader Karamullah Waqasi stated that all illegal connections and hydrants should be marked and action should be taken against them without discrimination.

Deputy Mayor Karachi further said that the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation Act will bring a lot of improvement in the city, as soon as the Act comes into force, it will be ensured that further improvements are made in the water supply and drainage system in the city, because providing better water supply and drainage facilities to citizens is included in our manifesto.

Whereas COO Water Board Engineer Asadullah Khan welcomed and congratulated all the newly elected public representatives including Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad on coming to the office of Water Board for the first time and said that on the special instructions of the Sindh Government, the Water Board has been established throughout the city Solving all problems related to water supply and drainage on priority basis, In this regard, the Water Board is engaged in performing its duties day and night to provide better facilities to the citizens, He further said that the despite water availability being less than 50% of the demand in the country’s largest and most populous city.

He informed that KW&SB is using all resources to ensure equitable distribution of water to the citizens and water supply to the end of the city, because providing better water supply and drainage facilities to the citizens is one of our top priorities.

COO Water Board also announced the formation of a joint committee consisting of Towns Chairman and Water Board officers regarding the fair distribution of water under the direction of the Deputy Mayor Karachi.
