SBTE joins hands for making Tobacco Smoke Free up-coming Generation in Pakistan
Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE) signed Letter of Intent (LoI) with Tobacco Smoke Free Cities (TSFC) Ministry of NHSR&C and Commissioner Karachi Office to support the noble cause of Tobacco Smoke Free Karachi.
Dr Masroor Ahmed Sheikh Chairman Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Dr Minhaj us Siraj Project Director TSFC Ministry of NHSR&C and Syed Jawad Muzaffar Additional Commissioner Karachi signed this LoI at a Ceremony held at the Chairman Secretariat of SBTE.
Through signing LoI SBTE, TSFC Ministry of NHSRC and Commissioner Karachi Office agreed to jointly conduct awareness sessions by providing information, education and communication material and resource persons.
However, policy guidelines will also develop to ensure observance of Tobacco Control Laws, at SBTE affiliated institutions and declared all affiliated institutions Tobacco Smoke Free Zone.
Moreover, to provide trainings on tobacco epidemic and prepare youth for tobacco free generation in Pakistan SBTE will facilitate TSFC to register volunteers in collaboration with Commissioner Karachi Office.
Whereas through signing LoI all stakeholders agreed to jointly launch social media campaign against tobacco menace and develop an environment among youth for up-coming tobacco free generation. In addition a Social Media Team will be prepared to propagation of tobacco control messages to masses and Curriculum will also be develop for tobacco smoke free generation.
At last Chairman SBTE assured that all events / sports activities of SBTE will be smoke free and termed this LoI a way forward for a tobacco smoke free generation.
Secretary including other officials of SBTE and Officials of TSFC Muhammad Aftab, Jameel Junejo and Bilal Zafar were also present on the occasion.
